The department is equipped with 22 dental chairs in the under graduate and 21 Dental chairs in post graduate section with instruments, equipments and materials required for comprehensive dental care of the patients.

Integrated department library has a vast collection of books, student library dissertations and journals and seminars. A state of the art seminar room with all the audio-visual facilities which enhances the education experience of the students is on 6th floor of dental college. Staff rooms for HOD, Readers and Senior lecturers as well as separate room for post graduate students are also available in the department. The department also has adequate number of computers with scanner and printers to maintain the patient record and to carry out research activities. A patient counseling room is also present in which all the patients are properly educated and motivated about their oral condition and treatment.

Our clinical teaching program starts with BDS third year. The third, final BDS students and interns are trained under a strict and regular schedule of lectures and clinical postings, in which they are required to do the patient work.

Our postgraduate (MDS) program started in the year 2007 which now has total 18 seats to impart quality training to the students in the field of Periodontology. There are a number of lectures been carried out by companies such as Oral-B and Listerine in our department annually.

Teaching-learning process is the heart of education. It depends on the fulfillment of the aims & objectives of education. It is the most powerful asset of education to bring about desired changes in the students. With this in mind the department has all the infrastructural facilities and the dedicated teaching faculty, which makes the teaching learning student centric. The lecture methods, interactive teaching, project based learning, evidence based learning etc helps the students to understand the subject thoroughly. The department has some in inbuilt mechanisms like mentor system, identification of slow and advanced learner, academic calender, intensive clinical training etc in accordance with the BBD university norms. These are the List of teaching methods adopted by the faculty for different programs including clinical teaching.

• Power point presentation
• Model demonstration
• Case discussion
• Chalk & talk
• Study posters
• Problem based learning

3rd year students, interns and 4th year BDS students are posted in the department for 1 month and 1.5 months respectively. During this time along with patients (clinical work) rigorous discussions are carried out. 3rd year students are given demonstrations on scaling procedures on mounted casts initially along with written and oral assignments. Third, final year students and interns are given seminars to be presented. For each scaling patient case history is recorded and presented prior to the procedure. A quota of 20 patients is mandatory for every student during this tenure. Every patient's case history is recorded in the manual provided by the department. These case histories are assessed by the staff before starting the scaling procedure. At the end of the posting, students are assessed by means of posting end viva under each faculty.

Final years and Interns are regularly posted in the post-graduate clinic to assist the post-graduates and faculty during specialized and surgical procedures so that they are aware of advanced periodontal and implantology procedures. Regular staff meetings are conducted by Head of Department and faculty where a regular feedback on UG & PG curriculum, teaching-learning-evaluation process are taken.
