3rd year students, interns and 4th year BDS students are posted in the department for 1 month and 1.5 months respectively. During this time along with patients (clinical work) rigorous discussions are carried out. 3rd year students are given demonstrations on scaling procedures on mounted casts initially along with written and oral assignments. Third, final year students and interns are given seminars to be presented. For each scaling patient case history is recorded and presented prior to the procedure. A quota of 20 patients is mandatory for every student during this tenure. Every patient’s case history is recorded in the manual provided by the department. These case histories are assessed by the staff before starting the scaling procedure. At the end of the posting, students are assessed by means of posting end viva under each faculty.
